High-Protein Chocolate Muffins
These viral 3-ingredient protein muffins are incredibly easy: Kodiak chocolate muffin mix + a chocolate protein shake + high-protein Greek yogurt. The combination makes moist, chocolatey muffins without needing eggs or oil. Versions of this recipe have been widely shared online, with many reporting around 10 g protein per muffin when making 12.
🛒 Ingredients
Makes: 12 muffins
Prep: 5 minutes
Bake: 20–25 minutes
- 1 box Kodiak Double Dark Chocolate Muffin Mix
- 1 bottle Core Power Chocolate Protein Shake
- 1 container (about 5.3 oz) high-protein Greek yogurt — vanilla or chocolate
- Optional: ¼ cup chocolate chips for extra chocolate flavor
- Optional: ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Optional: pinch of salt
Kodiak’s Double Dark Chocolate Muffin Mix itself provides protein, while the protein shake and Greek yogurt boost it further.
👩🍳 How to Make Them
1. Preheat the oven
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners or lightly spray the cups with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Make the batter
Pour the entire box of Kodiak muffin mix into a large mixing bowl.
Add the entire protein shake and the Greek yogurt.
Stir everything together until just combined. Don’t overmix—the batter should be thick and chocolatey.
3. Add chocolate chips
If using them, gently fold in the chocolate chips. You can also save a few to sprinkle over the tops.
4. Fill the muffin cups
Divide the batter evenly between the 12 muffin cups. They can be fairly full because these muffins don’t rise dramatically.
5. Bake
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
6. Cool
Let the muffins cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack.
🍫 Extra-Chocolate Version
For the muffins pictured, you can make them even more decadent by adding:
- ¼ cup mini chocolate chips to the batter
- A few extra chocolate chips on top
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
For a peanut-butter-chocolate version, add ¼ cup powdered peanut butter to the batter; a similar viral variation uses this addition.
📦 Storage
Keep cooled muffins in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–4 days. They can also be frozen individually and thawed when needed.
