Garlic mushrooms in Parmesan cheese
Ingredients:
- Fresh mushrooms (such as cremini or button mushrooms), cleaned and sliced
- Garlic cloves, minced
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- Heat a skillet or pan over medium heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil and let it heat up.
- Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté for about 1 minute until it becomes fragrant. Be careful not to let it brown too much.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan; you might need to cook them in batches if your pan isn’t big enough.
- Cook the mushrooms for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. As they cook, they will release their moisture. Continue cooking until the mushrooms are tender and any liquid they release has evaporated.
- Season the mushrooms with salt and pepper to taste. Remember that the Parmesan cheese will also add some saltiness to the dish.
- Once the mushrooms are cooked and nicely browned, remove the pan from heat.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the cooked mushrooms while they are still hot. The residual heat will help melt the cheese slightly.
- Toss the mushrooms gently to coat them with the melted cheese.
- Transfer the garlic mushrooms to a serving dish and sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the top for added freshness and color.
- Serve the garlic mushrooms in Parmesan cheese as a side dish or as a topping for pasta, rice, or crusty bread.
