Grilled cheese bowl bread

Grilled cheese bowl bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 large round bread loaf (sourdough, French bread, or any preferred type)
  • Butter or margarine
  • Cheese slices or shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, etc.)
  • Optional: Other fillings like cooked bacon, sliced tomatoes, caramelized onions, etc.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to around 350°F (175°C).
  2. Take the round bread loaf and cut off the top to create a lid. Hollow out the center of the bread, leaving a thick enough border to contain the cheese and fillings. Make sure to keep the removed bread for later use (it can be toasted and used for dipping or other recipes).
  3. Butter the inside of the hollowed-out bread bowl, including the lid.
  4. Place the bread bowl and lid on a baking sheet and bake them in the preheated oven for about 5-8 minutes until slightly crispy. This helps to prevent the bread from becoming too soggy when you add the cheese and other fillings.
  5. Remove the bread bowl from the oven and fill it with your desired cheese and any additional fillings you prefer.
  6. Return the filled bread bowl (with the lid placed back on) to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Once done, carefully remove it from the oven, let it cool for a minute or two, and then serve your grilled cheese bowl bread while it’s warm.

Remember, you can personalize this recipe by adding different types of cheese or incorporating various fillings to suit your taste preferences.
