Homemade High-Protein Seed & Nut Powder
🥜 Homemade High-Protein Seed & Nut Powder
A simple homemade blend packed with protein, healthy fats, fiber, magnesium, and other nutrients. It’s perfect for adding to smoothies, yogurt, oatmeal, or breakfast bowls.
Ingredients
- 25 g pistachios
- 25 g walnuts
- 25 g pumpkin seeds
- 25 g chia seeds
- 25 g flaxseeds
- 25 g sesame seeds
- 25 g almonds
Total: 175 g
Method
- Check the ingredients: Make sure all nuts and seeds are fresh and completely dry.
- Optional roasting: For a deeper, nuttier flavor, lightly dry-roast the pistachios, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, and almonds separately over low heat. Do not roast chia or flaxseeds. Cool everything completely before blending.
- Blend: Add all the nuts and seeds to a high-speed blender or food processor.
- Pulse carefully: Blend in short pulses until you get a fine, powder-like mixture. Avoid continuous blending, because the nuts and seeds can release their oils and turn into nut butter.
- Store: Transfer immediately to a clean, airtight container and refrigerate.
🥤 How to Use
Add 1–2 tablespoons (about 10–20 g) to:
- Smoothies
- Greek yogurt
- Oatmeal
- Milkshakes
- Chia pudding
- Breakfast bowls
For a smoothie, try:
- 1 cup milk or unsweetened plant milk
- ½–1 banana or berries
- 1–2 tbsp homemade nut & seed powder
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- A little cinnamon
- Ice, as desired
Blend until creamy.
💡 Tips & Notes
- Grind flaxseed before eating because ground flax is easier for the body to digest than whole flaxseed.
- Keep the powder refrigerated because the ground nuts and seeds contain oils that can become rancid.
- This is nutrient-dense, but it isn’t a pure protein powder—much of its protein comes alongside healthy fats and calories.
- If you want to increase the protein of your smoothie, Greek yogurt or cottage cheese can complement this blend well.
