High-Protein Ginger Turmeric Elixir
Creamy, Spicy & Satisfying
Servings: 1 large drink
Prep time: 5 minutes
Protein: ~25–30g, depending on your protein powder and yogurt
🛒 Ingredients
- ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 scoop unflavored or vanilla whey protein powder
- ½–1 inch fresh ginger, peeled
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- ½ cup ice
- 1–2 teaspoons monk-fruit or stevia, optional
- 2–3 tablespoons cold water, as needed
Optional
- Small pinch of cayenne pepper for heat
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract for a sweeter flavor
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Add the Liquid
Pour the almond milk into a blender.
Add the Greek yogurt and protein powder.
2. Add the Spices 🌿
Add:
- Fresh ginger
- Turmeric
- Cinnamon
- Black pepper
- Lemon juice
The small amount of black pepper is traditionally paired with turmeric because piperine can increase curcumin absorption.
3. Blend
Add the ice and blend for 30–45 seconds, until completely smooth and creamy.
If it’s too thick, add cold water 1 tablespoon at a time.
4. Taste & Adjust
Taste the drink.
Add a little monk fruit or stevia if you’d like it sweeter.
For extra spice, add a tiny pinch of cayenne.
5. Serve
Pour into a glass and drink immediately.
💪 Approximate Nutrition
Depending on the specific products used:
- Calories: ~250–300
- Protein: ~25–30g
- Carbohydrates: ~10–15g
- Fat: ~4–7g
For an even lower-carb version, use unsweetened Greek yogurt, unsweetened almond milk, and a zero-sugar protein powder.
❤️ Tip
For a high-protein breakfast drink, pair this with a balanced meal rather than relying on the drink alone. The protein and yogurt can make it considerably more filling than a traditional ginger-turmeric beverage.
