ITALIAN CRESCENT CASSEROLE

Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 (24-ounce) jar of your favorite pasta sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 (8-ounce) cans crescent roll dough
- Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the crescent roll dough package.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage over medium heat until it’s browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the cooked meat. Sauté for a few minutes until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
- Stir in the pasta sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce for a few minutes to combine the flavors.
- Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish to form the crust.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the crescent roll crust.
- Pour the meat and sauce mixture over the cheese layer.
- Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
- Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough and place it on top of the casserole, stretching it to cover the filling as best as possible.
- Bake in the preheated oven for the time indicated on the crescent roll dough package, or until the casserole is golden brown and bubbling.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
