Keto Chili Cheese Dog

cook time:40-55mins

Ingredients:

For the Chili:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes (with their juices)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup water or beef broth

For the Hot Dogs:

  • 4 keto-friendly hot dogs or sausages (look for low-carb options)
  • 4 keto-friendly hot dog buns (you can use lettuce wraps or almond flour buns)

For Toppings:

  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Chopped green onions
  • Sour cream

Instructions:

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juices) and tomato paste.
  4. Add the chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Pour in the water or beef broth to reach your desired chili consistency. Let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
  6. While the chili is simmering, cook the hot dogs according to the package instructions. You can grill, pan-fry, or boil them.
  7. Assemble the chili cheese dogs by placing each hot dog in a keto-friendly bun or lettuce wrap.
  8. Ladle a generous amount of the chili over each hot dog.
  9. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the chili.
  10. Top with chopped green onions and a dollop of sour cream.
