Crispy Garlic Mushroom Bites

Golden, crunchy, garlicky & irresistibly delicious! 🧄✨

These crispy garlic mushroom bites are a delicious low-carb snack or side dish. Juicy mushrooms are coated in a savory garlic-seasoned crust and baked or air-fried until golden and crunchy.

🛒 Ingredients

For the mushrooms:

  • 1 lb (450 g) button or cremini mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp onion powder

For the crispy coating:

  • ½ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup almond flour
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan, optional for extra crispiness
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Optional:

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Lemon wedges for serving

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare the mushrooms:
Clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel and pat them very dry. Trim the stems if needed. Avoid soaking them in water because excess moisture can prevent them from becoming crispy.
  2. Make the garlic mixture:
In a bowl, combine olive oil or melted butter, minced garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, Italian seasoning, and onion powder.
  3. Make the coating:
In a separate bowl, mix almond flour, Parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Coat the mushrooms:
Toss the mushrooms in the garlic mixture until evenly coated. Then roll each mushroom in the Parmesan-almond-flour mixture, pressing gently so the coating sticks.
  5. Bake:
Place the mushrooms in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Leave a little space between each one. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 18–22 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crisp.
  6. Air-fryer option:
Air-fry at 390°F (200°C) for 10–14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Cook in batches if necessary so the mushrooms aren’t overcrowded.
  7. Make them extra crispy:
For the final 1–2 minutes, increase the oven heat slightly or use the air-fry/broil function while watching carefully.
  8. Serve:
Sprinkle with fresh parsley and a little extra Parmesan. Serve immediately with lemon wedges or your favorite low-carb dipping sauce.

🥣 Easy Garlic Dip

Mix together:

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

💚 Low-Carb & Keto-Friendly

Using almond flour and Parmesan instead of traditional breadcrumbs keeps these mushroom bites grain-free and much lower in carbs than a conventional breaded version. For strict keto, check the nutrition labels of your ingredients and calculate the exact net carbs per serving.

🔥 Tip: The secret to crispy mushrooms is dry mushrooms + plenty of space on the pan. Overcrowding traps steam and makes the coating softer.
