Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup chicken broth
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½–1 tsp red pepper flakes, to taste
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Season the shrimp
Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Season with smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and a small pinch of salt. - Cook the shrimp
Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for about 1–2 minutes per side, until pink and just cooked through. Remove the shrimp and set aside. - Make the garlic sauce
Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the same skillet. Sauté for about 30–60 seconds, just until fragrant. - Make it creamy
Add the chicken broth and cream cheese. Stir until the cream cheese melts smoothly. Pour in the heavy cream and simmer gently for 2–3 minutes. Do not let it boil aggressively. - Add Parmesan
Stir in the Parmesan cheese and cook for another 1–2 minutes, until the sauce becomes creamy and slightly thickened. - Add the shrimp back
Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss gently in the sauce. Simmer for about 1 minute so the shrimp warms through. - Finish
Add fresh lemon juice and chopped parsley. Taste and adjust the salt and red pepper flakes.
